Like so many organizations, Studio SWEAT onDemand (SSoD) has weathered many changes with the pandemic. Even so, to help others during this difficult time, they rallied to give back by holding their annual charity SWEAT Gives Back 24-hour Spinning event to benefit military families who have lost loved ones serving our nation. The event, called the Hero Ride, called not only on the SSoD staff but also SSoD members around the world to cycle in an effort to raise money, pedaling and pumping from noon on September 25 to noon on September 26. Supporters could sponsor riders remotely, pedal along to the livestream, or reserve a space within the San Diego fitness studio to cycle safely, right alongside the trainers.

In the end, the participants raised a total of $26,581! That all went straight to the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), which supports military families after they lose a loved one in the line of duty. SSoD even covered all the GoFundMe fees so that every dollar raised went directly to TAPS. The initial goal was $12,121, so the fact that the Hero Ride more than doubled its intended goal speaks to the care the SSoD community was willing to give to help those in need, and because of that more families will have resources to recover from bereavement.
