We’ve been waiting for this episode for ages. Luz learns magic! She casts her first spell and got some lessons on magic. King for the episode serves as her teacher, though Eda gives some crucial advice with her runes. The lessons that they both teach end up helping Luz when someone breaks into the Owl House. In addition, we get some very important worldbuilding.

“Lore” is the theme of this episode. King teaches Luz about the demons of the world, while Eda explains witch biology and the ancient art behind spells. In the meantime, the Owl House is under attack; demon and witch apprentice need to work together when Eda is put out of commission.

The Intruder

King demonstrates for Luz how he can maul ducky socks and teach her about demons. He says that knowing is half the battle, and warns her that beings like him have “inner demons” and sensitivity. When a boiling water rainstorm traps them and Eda in the Owl House, King and Luz have to fend off a mysterious intruder that takes their witch. King is very put out to realize that the invader wasn’t the Snaggleback demon, but someone already in the house: a transformed Eda! They learn that while demon lore is useful, you have to update your information in an emergency. You also can’t confiscate someone’s medication since it turns out Eda drinks a potion to keep from turning into an owl…
