I’ve been a Hamilton fan since about 2015 or 2016 when I saw GIFs on social media and listened to the soundtrack. Then it was all about finding clips, watching the Tony Award performance, and finding other people who could get obsessed with me. Lin-Manuel Miranda became one of my favorite Twitter people to follow when he posted motivational morning tweets and a reason to get up in the morning.

When someone enjoys Hamilton, then you feel less alone. In this cruel world, few things bring us joy as tragic musicals. People stare at you funny, and you decide to stop talking to the ones that decide to try and mock you by singing it without knowing the melody. (The person who did that was not invited when I was able to see the Miami tour a few months ago thanks to a generous gift. Do you want to see a show? You don’t mock it then.)

This is the general pattern I’ve seen when someone manages to watch the show in person, get a bootleg, or now see the Disney+ recording. I haven’t seen the recording — going to wait until the digital download comes out unless I can sign up for a trial or attend a watch party — but the clips released have been enticing. So is the full show, once you get a chance to see it without any interruption.
