It's really hard. Rejecting someone like Lovecraft is easier because Lovecraft was a straight-up racist jerk. Authors like Gaiman and JKR felt intimate and personable, like decent human beings.

All my sympathies for the culling. And thank goodness that we have so many more authors whose worlds open to us.
