How Helluva Boss’s Second Season Handles Abusive Parents
No one has a nice father in this show, and seeks to be better than their parents.
When I got into Helluva Boss, it was purely for Alex Brightman. He plays a minor character, a robot clown. I started getting into it for the humor as well, and for Moxie getting a win once in a while.
Helluva Boss on the surface is an office comedy about demon assassins that go after human targets. Season two has convinced me that the show has gone beyond its black NSFW murder comedy. By going into darker and tragic backstories, Helluva Boss balances the comedy with serious discussions on abusive parents.
The Conformist, The Exploiter, And The Bully
We see three types of fathers in the previous generation: the conformist, the exploiter, and the bully. The conformist is oblivious to how tradition hurts his young child. In contrast, the exploiter only sees their child as a moneymaker.
