Five Nights At Freddy’s Retrospection: Introduction

This will be a multi-part series because there is a lot of ground to cover for Five Nights at Freddy’s, given the franchise’s size. Here we are going to go into the gist for the story, as an overview for people.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a horror franchise that includes six main video-games, three spinoffs, five books, and a potential film that has been delayed for several years. Scott Cawthon created the franchise after receiving constructive criticism on another game regarding his character designs. While the games in the main continuity and the novels have concluded, the franchise isn’t done, as far as we know. We also have half a dozen parodies with other copyrighted characters, let’s plays, fan videos, and alternate continuities.

We will talk about the lore, the analyses, and all the hints, that date back to 2014 and are in the present. So, as a fair warning:

The Premise

The main player character in game one is a security guard for an animatronic pizzeria, from midnight to six AM. They have to man the cameras and the backroom, but not to keep thieves and vandals out of the restaurant. Oh no, you have to make sure the animatronics (or bots) performing during the day don’t come into your office. If they do, they’ll put you in a suit filled with deadly wires and gears, and you’ll die. Closing the doors and using the lights will cost you power, and if you lose power, they can enter the office.
