Amphibia Recap, Episode 9
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Amphibia
Running a business is not easy. Especially in the age of side hustles and the wealthiest hoarding money, you need to figure out what you the individual can deliver in terms of value. Amphibia is up with the times and decides to talk about what happens when you introduce new ideas from another world, and that the consequences may be, positive or negative.
“Delivering unique value” becomes the theme for the next two episodes. No one in this show can become a snake oil salesman or scam artist, and they have to genuinely deliver items of value. They can, however, grow and change. We have no Mystery Shacks, or moments where lying to people is the only means to get money from them safely.
Lily Pad Thai
While Anne cooks with the Plantars, she reveals her family owns a Thai restaurant where she would help out. They go out to eat at Stumpy’s Diner, where Anne overhears a critic named Duckweed verbally attack the apathetic chef and owner. She promises to help the chef change the restaurant in two days and turns it into a Thai-frog fusion spot. While the locals are won over, Duckweed isn’t. Anne and Stumpy then serve a dish that nearly eats him, as well as the Plantars. He gives Lily Paid Thai a high-starred review for trying to do something different.
